Yes, in reality in Gdansk or Danzig (German name) were established
paramilitary units, which later bacome part of Waffen SS. That's
historical truth and I'm not going to contest it.

city". What does it mean?
Because the question would be to difficult for you let me explain. On
the basis of the Treaty of Versailles in1920 Gdansk become autonomous
city-state and were not part of Poland or Germany. It was
quasi-independent country under Leage of Nations protection. Approx 90%
of the free city of Gdansk citizens were ethnic Germans. In 1933
elections were won by the Nazis and problems started. On September, 2
1939 senate of Gdansk voted to make the city part of Germany.
As you missed Heimwehr Danzig units (trained and equipped by Nazi
Germany) took part in the invasion of Poland in September,1 1939, what
also clearily shows that they were not Polish units.

It was formation established by the Nazi senate of the free city of
Gdansk. - no Poles involved.
The Polish population of Gdansk mostly ended up in Stutthof.
