| Well, it's clear to me why there are some Canadians that are against guns. They all got knives, and they know how to use them. Guess they will ban them next. Wonder if this guy's wife would be more dead if he shot her--once. Dan http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/ar...416507238.html |

I have heard people can get violent. |

Apparently, to some, if the item used to kill was not actually intended to be used for killing, then its ok and no controls need to be placed on these things. Dennis |

To me, generally, Its what a person actually does with the item, and not "what it was designed to do". And i that action is criminal, then they'll face the consequences. A person killed by a knife, a baseball bat, or a car is just as dead as one killed by a gun. Presuming that the killing was not jsutified as self-defense (or other legal grounds), then that person, that person, should be the one punished. Not all the folks who'll peacably carve meat (long kitchen knives), hit balls, or drive to work. And, naturally, it includes those who'll either hunt or target shoot with the weapon of their choice. Yes, there are folks who hunt here with pistols. Dennis |

As Doug pointed out, our non-gun voilent crime is 3x higher than Japan's. And, as was pointed out, one country IIRC Germany, experienced a near-doubling of violent crime after banning firearms. > > As I said I am happy enough with our gun laws you are happy with yours so we > will have to disagree > > Yes, we will.
