One that the Democrats demanded, when it they could make it appear that Bush was doing nothing (after Clinton did nothing for 8 years), and right up until it looked like invading Iraq would be viewed as a Republican success. Now they are doing everything they can to turn it into a loss, strictly on partisan angst. http://media1.streamtoyou.com/rnc/111505.wmv |

Not if they run Rice or Jeb Bush, according to the polls. I haven't seen a Giuliani-Clinton matchup, but he's got baggage and limited experience. McCain would beat her, but he'll never win the Republican primary. |

There's been talk lately about it not necessarily being a design problem with the levees... Something about substandard materials and such from the Louisiana companies doing the actual work... In other words, business as usual in the 3rd world country affectionately known as Louisiana... |

In other words, business as usual in the 3rd world country affectionately known as Louisiana... ------------------------------------ Forget about the talk about design problems. Forget about the talk about substandard materials. The focus should be on this very easy to comprehend fact : We are insane to build anything on the shoreline (above sea level or below sea level) when we can't master playing God 24/7 against normal weather patterns or against extreme weather patterns like a hurricane in order to protect it. That's it. Bottom line. Forget New Orleans. Knock the remainder down and build elsewhere. We been thumbing our nose to the forces of weather for a long time on most of the Eastern Coast. We're on borrowed time. Can you imagine a hurricane catagory 4 or 5 hitting Atlantic City, NJ or Long Island, NY ?? It's not out of the question. Why are we trying to pretend that we're capable of defeating nature's forces ?? Sheer stupidity is the one reason that seems prevalent. |
