Default dumb question.....

ok just wondering I have not used my equipment in a year how important is it
to get it rebuilt every year... I am planning on using it in a pool before I
take a couple of deep dives. or should I have them serviced. they are both
less than 2 years old and have been taken care of very well (of course)
