You could be right. It was a cut/paste from another site. The relevant
number I was referring to was 708/711, which was the weight per cubic foot
of lead.

If it was exactly one square inch the weight would be zero and it would not
be lead.

If you wish to discuss a volume of lead maybe we can help you.
If you want to get very technical please give a volume and location as
weight varies with both.

Missed that part of the thread, eh, David? Try Google.

Lead is 0.411 lb(m) per cubic inch, but since Frank specified a surface
and not a volume, any density times zero thickness yields zero mass.


BTW, this happens to mean that the weight of of a square inch of lead is
the same as a square inch of feathers.
