| My BC just broke and I am considering getting a backplate and wings. I have OMS 112 cu ft tanks and use them as singles. What would I need and what is the best brand. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

| Ken, For cold-water single-tank diving, I use Faber 108's (basically same as OMS 112) with a drysuit. With this configuration, I use a stainless-steel backplate and one of Scott Koplin's weighted single-tank adapters, which is very nice. For this rig, I would recommend a wing with at least 36 lbs of lift, like the Halcyon Pioneer, or check out Scott's new 45# single-tank wings. Although I would not recommend using a steel tank with a wetsuit (too much unditchable weight), if this is how you are diving, then I would probably go with an aluminum backplate and an unweighted STA or an STA-less setup. A wing with about 27 lbs of lift should be fine for this. I have had my Halcyon 27# Pioneer wing for about 4 years, and it has been great. See Oxycheq http://www.oxycheq.com and Halcyon http://www.halcyon.net Best, -bob On Mon, 21 Jul 2003 21:27:21 GMT, kwein@yahoo.com (Ken) wrote: >My BC just broke and I am considering getting a backplate and wings. >I have OMS 112 cu ft tanks and use them as singles.
