Or am I just lazier > than most people about keeping documentation? Boy- there's a lot of curiosity around here. A) Indoctrination by the certification process and instructor has a lot to do with why dive shops continue to sell special binders and books and pages and c-card holders and water resistant paper that smudges like mad. B) It is a great way to pass the surface interval if sex is out of the question. C) It is a great record to refer to when someone here asks what the bottom of the surface temperature is of off Nasau- not in July but August... and lookeee there- you did a trip from July 29 thru August 4! D) It is a good way to record what thermal protection you used for what temp water in case you are a rubber-suit clothes horse like my S.O. E) It is a good way for those described in (D) above to remember the positioning and quantity of their lead. F) It is a great place to put those dive shop rubber stamper things so the ink will smudge all over the rest of the book. G) It makes excellent reading for the Doctor at the hyperbaric chamber if you're frothing too much to speak. H) If you're a Divemaster, the special binder and waterproof pages keep coffee from staining your progress towards: I) Instructor- great for hot chicks to write their numbers or slip their cabin keys into the way cool logo binder. I think that about covers it. -- Doc _(:)0 "I'm hiding in Honduras, I'm a desperate man, Send Lawyers, Guns & Money...The sh*t has hit the fan" -Warren Zevon |

Nah, that's for Clueless Newbies <tm> with less than a few thousand dives. For the seasoned <salted if you wish>, you can (a) print your personalized log-pages (Microshaft WORD will do a pretty good job -- you can even have your own jpeg pic on your own personalized logbook pages); or (b) have your Citizen HyperAqualand do the logging, including a detailed plot of your dive profile (depth and temp); or (c) have a ReefNet Sensus Pro do the same (with a built-in log page to enter notes) and save up to 100 detailed profiles instead of only about 6 by the HyperAqualand; or (d) lots of other more expensive and less useful gadgets/toys for such logging and downloading, such as (i) the Cockroach (aka Cochran) Mike-Flame-Customer- and-Hide-Defect computer or (ii) the UWATEC (aka Let-U-Get-Bend-rather-than-Recall) computer having a Court Verdict of "Conspiracy, Slander, and Outrage" for framing its employees for wanting to reveal its defect and issue a recall (1998), and pending Court Case (Nov 2003) of 4 bent divers on 4 separate lawsuits on the SAME COMPUTER whose defects were known in 1996, but not recalled until 2003 and not before the FIFTH lawsuit and an attorney had threatened a Class-Action suit if UWATEC didn't issue a recall notice ... (e) Many other alternative ways and means. > > B) It is a great way to pass the surface interval if sex is out of > the question. Or refresh your memory on spelling Nassau, as in July 1994, with UW pix of Dan blowing bubbles ascending from 485 fsw on his daily, recreational air dives, of which I was his SOB. :o) > > D) > E) > F) .... > I) > > I think that about covers it. Nah, Doc. You haven't even covered the tip of the iceberg, or the first 50 feet of a wall dropping to 5000 feet. -- Bob. |

O.K., then how about "NASA"? Is that how it's spelt? I still have my Bend-o-Matic waiting in the garage. All this new stuff frightens me. Too many batteries, not enough spring powered wind up stuff anymore. -- Doc _(:)0 "I'm hiding in Honduras, I'm a desperate man, Send Lawyers, Guns & Money...The sh*t has hit the fan" -Warren Zevon |
