| Does anyone use the IRIS interface for the MARES M1 dive computer? If so have you experienced any problems with running it on Windows XP? After installing the software, whenever I run the programme I receive the error message "Infrared Interface System has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" and then shuts down. I've tried looking at the HTM website and downloading both the version 2 update and the full version 2 programme and neither of these seem to work either. |

| I had the same response on my PC running XP, until I downloaded Version 2 and it has worked great ever since.IRIS, of course worked fine with my old Windows 98 machine. Make sure you have removed all traces of the earlier isntallation of IRIS prior to downloading version 2. Better still, save the installation files (you did follow the instructions and dowloaded all 5, I think, of the installation files; theyre loaded one after the other when you start the installation ?) and remove all traces of the earlier installation including deleting the directory that contained the old installation. Turn off your computer and then turn it back on and run the installation. See if that makes any difference. Once you get to the main intro screen of IRIS be sure you set it to a valid serial port. It took me several times, reorienting the angle and position of the IR detector vis-a-vis the Mares M1. But you will know when they hook up (as if were), because the upload bar starts to the move across the screen window. | Thanks for the tip. I tried this and unfortunately I still get the same error message. Have you got the SP1 service pack installed on your Windows XP? I have not installed SP1 as of yet but have been advised that this might be the cause.
