Actually, at sea level and anywhere above, 14.9 psi will do it...

If my house burns down, the last thing I'm thinking about is my tanks bursting.

Until one cooks off.

You'll think about it then.

It might be pretty important to the guy trying to fight the fire.

Actually, I expect the firefighter will be more relieved to learn it's only
compressed air and not something significantly more interesting.

You want to store them either completely full or near empty
(100-200psi). If nearly empty and there is a fire or other large
temperature source the pressure will increase but not enough for the
tank to explode even if the fire causes damaged to the tank.

If the tank is full and there is a fire the pressure will increase
enough for the brust disk to go before the tank is damaged enough to
explode.

If the tank is partially filled, then all bets are off. The
temperature will cause the pressure to increase but perhaps not enough
for the burst disk to go. However, in the meantime the tank may
sustain enough damage that it will fail at standard fill pressures.

If your house/car etc. is ever on fire and contains a scuba equipment
inform the emergency personel regarding its location, otherwise they
will be very pissed and you could be held liable if someone is hurt.

Cheers,

Allen
