Default Which SPG?

After all the discussions of using an SPG in addition to a wireless transmitter, I'd appreciate any recommendations on which one and where to purchase. I saw an OMS on Leisure Pro for $75. Any disadvantage to getting the smaller one?

Thanks,
Charlie...

You mean you're going to get an analog SPG instead of an all your eggs
in one basket integrated SPG/computer, right?

Only a few choices in SPG types, brass case or polycarbonate case,
Imperial or metric, boot or no boot, hose length, DIR style or the
standard long 36 inch.

I recommend a brass case. The OMS is the only dual scale SPG in the
group. Whether that could lead to confusion at depth is your judgement
call. I prefer a metric gauge, having gone to all metric
instrumentation.

If you're talking about a smaller case diameter, the test is if you can
see the needle on the gauge when it is clipped off on your left hip
D-ring. I love the smaller size gauges but can't see them that well on
my hip.

You don't want a boot because that traps water even after it seems dry.

Disclaimer: I sell Halcyon.
