| According to Mares, I can, but only up to 40% Nitrox. I must say, they didn't sound too convincing. What does everyone else think? TIA! V. |

Most manufacturers only warrant their regs for mixes up to 40% - anything above that requires the equipment to be in O2 service. Anyway, why would you want to use mixes above 40% for back gas? I can understand it for deco bottles but see little point in running mixes richer than this for extended bottom time due to the depth limitations such mixes would impose... |

| I don't know, but you better make sure your BC is Nitrox ready. You don't want the Oxygen to eat holes through the rubber, or, God forbid, explode on the surface from the spark of the inflator mechanism. | Yes. No problem. "Vader" <vader69er@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:cf8b980d.0312170809.6fb88a48@posting.google.c om... > According to Mares, I can, but only up to 40% Nitrox. I must say, > they didn't sound too convincing. What does everyone else think? > > TIA! > > V. |

| "Vader" wrote > According to Mares, I can, but only up to 40% Nitrox. I must say, > they didn't sound too convincing. What does everyone else think? What makes you think our thoughts are better than those of the manufacturer? Most regulators are safe for use with nitrox up to around 40% provided they are serviced regularly. Most manufacturers and, consequently, most divers, think that means annually. Since it's a condition of my warranty, that's what I do. High PPO2s can increase the rate of deterioration of some materials used in some regulators. More and more often, regulators come from the factory with parts suitable for use with pure O2, but even those that don't, are normally considered fine for normal "recreational" nitrox use. Those that are not, are identified by the manufacturer. Lee |

| I have read this thread with interest. I am wondering if the Titanium Abyss is safe for Nitrox up to 36% Brian |

The problems with Ti are pure O2 a near pure O2 at high pressures. i.e. Ti in second stage is not a problem with any mix. It's the first stage that can be a problem. safe diving, bullshark |

| thanks for the reply. I really wasn't thinking of using pure O2, except may as a deco gas later on. Brian |
