Default Starter Snorkeling Package?

We are going to the carribean for a week. Would like to bring our own
snorkeling equipment for the week rather than rent. I am assuming it would
be cheaper and we would have them for future. Is there a good package out
there that would include mask, fins, and snorkel that is of good quality and
resonably priced? And where can I buy online? We thought the quality of
rental stuff for the week might be a lot higher than we could purchase. We
think anything over $50 to purchase would not be worth it.

Thanks....Bobkat

If you're just going to use it for this trip, then rent. A good mask alone
will run you about $50.

The definitive answer is yes, no, maybe, probably was at one time, may not
have been at one time.
It depends on where you go.

The discount stores usually start carrying packages about this time of the
year which will be more than adequate for casual use and with care will last
a while. Chances are if you need them next time you will know if you want
better equipment.

*Any* mask that fits will work fine.
A cheap narrow snorkel will work just fine if you are just doodling around,
same for the fins.

Just make sure you wear protective clothing to protect from sunburn and keep
the equipment out of the sun as much as possible.

Go to Walmart and get a package. use it for the week and keep it or dump it
still cheaper and cleaner than rentals.

Yes it is a good idea to have your own snorkel gear because you're used to it know the fit
and know its quality.

No I would not buy online. Masks are so difficult to fit as are fins that you need to try
them out.
