Most canons and olympus models have a housing for use UW. All small digital and film cameras have problems with backscatter in murky waters. In tropical waters you do alright, and don't need the flash for wider angle stuff, but are bluer. You'll need the external strobe if you want to get around it. -- Jason O'Rourke www.jor.com |

There has been some discussion about problems with an external slave strobe when used with digital cameras. Some light the strobe to help focus, and that sets off the slave flash. The alternative is to use either a synced strobe, or to find a camera where the "pre-lighting" could be somehow disabled. I have no experience with the digital sealife cameras, but the DC300 with an SL960 strobe might be a nice combo. Maybe there'd be a store that would let your rent one and try it out? /Marcin |
