No, and if there was, just exactly where would that display? In your ....about "IrDA commands"? ....uh right. It's not a remote control, sport. Just reset everything to the way it was, unload the freakin hotsync and try it again. Turn off anything in the BIOS that make it look like a serial port, and make sure that the BIOS *enables* the IR port and does NOT enable the serial port that is sometimes the competition for IRQs. If all else fails, I suggest you buy a BAFO USB Irda Device. It's plug and play, works like a charm and it's cheap. I paid about $25 for mine. safe diving, bullshark |

| Now that I eliminated McAfee... (other post)... What is the range of the BAFO USB IrDA device? I don't mind carrying another wire around to plug in if the range is more like 6"-12" rather than the 1/4" range I'm seeing on the T40. On my boat the T40 is "locked down" to the nav station and interfaced to the helm display, onboard LAN, autopilot, scanning sonar, and gps/seatalk network so I really don't want to lift it up to upload dive profiles. A nice debug mode for SmartTrak could log all device interaction (open/close/read/write/etc) to a file in text form with timestamp etc. Most people who write programs like SmartTrak have to build a mode like this in to debug the comm protocol themselves - often it's just a matter of turning it on to get more data on where the communication is breaking down. But now it's up to ScubaPro and McAfee - I'm sure that ScubaPro will notice this thread if they are not too busy with the infamous lawsuit. Does anyone know who maintains SmartTrak? The support people I spoke with did not seem to be involved in new development for it.
