You're probably wrong on at least two levels: 1. Most certified divers don't take non certified divers under water with compressed gas. 2. You, personally, are not ready to take on such responsibility. Lee |

If I throw you in a swimming pool, or just shove your head under water, you will hold your breath. It is instinctive, babies will do it. Please explain the "common sense" in NOT HOLDING YOUR BREATH if you loose your regulator at 20 feet and must ascend to the surface. Ask the parents of the kids who jumped into the 8 foot pool with hose and bucket over their head and when the air in the bucket got foul, held their breath and swam up. "Common sense" tells me that since "the idea is to get to the bottom" I put enough weight on to sink. The quote comes from a long funny story about a couple who said - and did just that. It is funny because both survived, only because there was somebody there to help them. "Common sense" does not tell you to drop your weights in an emergency. A highly trained moron would do as trained, your untrained person with plenty of "common sense" would not. |
