| good answer Joe. you could die from 1000 different causes sitting right there at your PC. > Yes - he could die, he could get dns, he could cause your drowning. > Taking a non-certified, non trained diver with you as an untrained dive > instructor is asking for disaster. Air embolisms, ear problems, not > breathing and exhaling properly, unable to clear mask not understanding > breathing compressed air, etc etct etc etc ..... > > Are you certified? Those that are in the SNUBA business do it all the time. Reportedly, they are DM or better. Those that run resort courses do it all the time. Those in the BOB business do it all the time. Some of us non instructor, non DM, non SNUBA, non resort course, non BOB divers have done it on occasion. > Is there any reason why it's not a good idea? Depends on how confident you are that you can remember to tell the non diver everything they need to know to be safe with you controlling the dive. Depends on how confident you are that the non diver has the minimal skills required to be safe underwater, particularly clearing a mask and a regulator. Depends on how confident you are that the non diver will not panic and do something that will get him/her hurt. Depends how confident you are that you can control that non diver no matter what. There are a lot of risks to diving. If you have to ask the question, chances are, the answer is "don't do it." Lee |
