Decent yes, but limited in some ways, and the autofocus is a bit slow for
moving objects. The A80 might be a better compromise for small but useful.
My pics from Miami and Belize are the first two trips I had the S400 - not
too shabby for no flash and limited diving experience with it.

not an unreasonable suggestion. Ideally need an external light source ( I
prefer a strobe) to get decent shots. I use the S45 ( 4 mp) but I see no
reason the S500 would be a problem. Results and comments are on my camera
page.

Thinking of buying a Canon S500. It is a 5 MP compact camera that Canon
makes an inexpensive housing for. I am leaning towards this camera because
of the housing and thought of using it underwater. Is this type of
arrangement one that will produce decent underwater shots?
