I was in Puerto Plata a year and a half ago. The diving outfit that was on
site was called SeaPro. They were okay. Equipment was alright, though I used
my own.

As far as I remember, they used metric gauges so you should be fine. But
just in case:
100 bar = 1450 psi
10 m = 33 ft

The diving was not great though, there was not a lot to see. But it was
better than sitting on the beach drinking all-inclusive drinks. Oh, wait a
minute, that was awfully good too!

Have fun.

Default Diving in Dominican Republic

Greetings all,

Just booked a fortnight's family holiday next month in Dom Rep at the Coral
Marien by Hilton on Costa Dorada.

Anyone ever been to this hotel? According to the brochure it has a PADI
diving outfit on site, any idea of name? What's the diving like - any "must
do's" - any operators to avoid, etc

Also, having only dived in metric areas (i.e. depth in Metres & pressure in
Bar) is the Dom Rep within the American sphere of influence in terms of
measurements. If so can anyone point me in the direction of a good
explanation of conversions from cu ft to bar etc? Anything else to watch
out for?

Tried "Googling" etc and lots of people asking questions, but few replies
from anyone who's actually been.

TIA
