| I recently purchased the UK eLED for my wife to replace a light that had died. I got the one with the 4C cells. I have 2 other large lights that I also took and was able to compare to the eLED. One is the UK rechargeable 4D cell and the other is an old Pelican 8D cell. The eLED was not as bright as the other lights. At night it worked well, had a bright white beam and seemed very adequate for night dives esp at short range. The light is also very small and light and easy to handle. During the day the light did not seem to work well for looking under ledges, in cracks, etc. It just did not seem to have the brightness needed for daytime use. The fact that it will probably not ever need a new bulb (at least in my lifetime) was a plus for me - esp when traveling. Hope this is of some use. | Hello! I'm looking for a new underwater torch to replace my 15 years old UK600R which blew its bulb and forced me to use the original, 15 years old bulb which'll probably not last for long. Browsing through the list of torches of the Underwater Kinetics I saw few torches using eLEDs as opposed to the usual bulbs. I managed to find some figures of the light intencity - 6W eLED produces 130 Lumens of light. But I don't know what to compare this figure to. The only light intensity figure I found was for Light Cannon 100: 10W (actual), 25W (equivalent), 450 Lumens. But the bulb of the Light Cannon 100 is HID so the ratio of 450 Lumens and 10W is irrelevant. The other ratio (450 Lumens and 25W) is probably for an ordinary bulb. And since the 9W bulb of my UK600R had been custom designed for its task, I'm sure the ratio of normal bulb doesn't hold for it. So, what I'm currently curious about is: What can be the light intensity, in Lumens, of the UK600R? That would give me the best criterion to estimate how would a eLED light compare with what I used so far. What is the light intensity of other bulb-type torches? If anyone used both the eLED and normal bulb torches, how would the light intensity of the eLED compare to the torches using the Edison-type bulbs? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY INFO ! ! ! ************************************************** **************************** * Arie Kazachin, Israel, e-mail: ariek@attglobal3.14159265358979323846.net * ************************************************** **************************** NOTE: before replying, leave only letters in my domain-name.
