IIRC according to the BSAC you should never use titanium regs with anything other than air. I would have expected that to be covered in pretty much any nitrox course mind you... Alun Harford |

There is a severe risk of fire if you do; Titanium and Aluminum both burn handily in enriched O2 mixtures. A line of medical regulators built for O2 use out of Aluminum was recalled after several of them caught fire for this very reason. -- -- Karl Denninger (karl@denninger.net) Internet Consultant & Kids Rights Activist http://www.denninger.net My home on the net http://scubaforum.org Your UNCENSORED place to talk about DIVING! http://boaterforum.com Talk about Boating online - any topic, any time! http://www.spamcuda.net SPAM FREE mailboxes - FREE FOR A LIMITED TIME! |

No shit, eh? > God help all the fools putting 3000 PSI O2 in their Al cylinders.... That's funny, because we do it all the time with rebreathers. As a matter of fact, I know dozens of divers that do it for AL80 deco stage bottles every weekend. Cleanliness and fill rate. Not rocket science or voodoo, no need to invoke God. And, as I indicated, if the aluminum, magnesium (ask Mike why they don't sell mag wheel anymore) or titanium particles are small enough, or the edges of the chips fine and ragged enough, they will ignite spontaneously upon exposure to good ole 21%. I personally, over the course of 30 years, have had 2 fires in the chip pan of my lathe, one on titanium, one on magnesium. That being said, I think aluminum or titanium regulators are nothing more or less than marketing hype. |

That was a joke, son. It's a shame you didn't see it. Any fool knows how many deco bottles are full of O2. Then again, I'm not just any fool. Glad to see you noticed. Maybe if you weren't trying so hard to be such a condescending, caustic, prick all the time, then you could get a joke or two yourself. |

| Thanks for all the help. I'm not buying one of these- I'm looking at selling them but when you're in the bussiness every wholesaler has a different story depending on what they sell so their opinions are less than usfull. People in this newsgroup may not always agree with each other but all the info given is appeciated and taken into account. Regards Neil |
