Default Dacor not honoring regulator warranty?

I have a Dacor regulator and octopus that I have had for 15 years. I have
faithfully had the product serviced annually in order to keep the lifetime
parts warranty valid. Dacor is now saying that they do not support my
equipment any longer and suggest that I update to their newer technologies.

It seems wrong that a scuba manufacturer would offer a lifetime warranty and
then discontinue parts so that the user would have to upgrade to newer
equipment.

I would like to know if anyone else has had this same problem with Dacor?

Reid,

The original Dacor company as such no longer exists. The company that
bought Dacor out in 1998 is no longer making or stocking parts for the
older Dacor regs.

15 years is pretty good service from any regulator, but things have
moved on in that time. There are much better regulators available now.
Do yourself a favor and get a something more current. I wholeheartedly
agree with Scott about Apeks regulators. They are very hard to beat.
The old Dacors, while good in their day, just don't compare.

You could try to push it in court under Magnusson-Moss and perhaps
force them to upgrade the equipment for free.

The dive shop that I normally use sold Dacor equipment for many years. They
have told me that Dacor has been sold (? to Mares ?). The shop says that
they can no longer get any parts to service any of the old equipment and
they have been told that no parts will be available in the future. I have a
omni-pro computer that was sent in and returned not seviced. Fortunately, I
unloaded the rest of my Dacor equipment severeal years ago. Sure are a lot
of people that purchased equipment in the past pissed off right about know.
But I do not think that the dive shop can do anything about the problem.

If anyone does know of where Dacor equipment can be repaired and/or serviced
please let me know.

I like the tie in sales provisions.

Sure looks like they're all in violation.

Not going to work, as others have mentioned, the DACOR that sold and
warranted that regulator no longer exists, and the NEW DACOR has NO
legal obligation to honor any warrantees on products made/sold by the
original DACOR corporate entity

That all depends on the transition from the old to the new Dacor, what was
sold and purchased in the transition and what rights and responsibilities
follow. Also, it may provide recourse back to the owners of the original
Dacor . . . or not.

Right, wrong or in between, bottom line the obvious conclusion is not to buy
anything from Dacor.

They are shit regs in the first place.

Dacor is a corporation and as such a seperate entity from who owns it. If I
owe you $1,000.00 while working for x, I still owe you the money when y
hires me and I move.

I once received a refund on a printer by sending the company a letter
documenting all that I had done to try to get my money back along with a
list of the magazines I was going to send copies too.
