Show me a splitfin near the bottom and I'll show you a desert storm. The Twinjets were the worst fin I have ever used. I own the Mares Avanti Quattro Power full foots and use them for free diving. Tanya Streeter signed them personally for me, and the signature gets me at least 5m deeper than I could otherwise dive. They are just too much fin for scuba though; too long and awkward, and they fight you when maneuvering. I don't like full-foots for scuba. I boat-dive almost exclusively and I want my fins on my wrists while climbing out. That way, if I have to let go in a big sea, I'll have my fins. If you have full-foots you have to hand them off. YMMV. I keep trying new and different fins, but I keep diving with my Jetfins. It is primarily a matter of comfort. I dive a lot and I dive for long times and Jet Fins work for me without pain or blisters. For maneuvering, I don't think they have any peers. I can glide a few inches off the bottom and not raise any sand. I think there is little chance that the right fin for you is the right fin for the missus. Your post highlights the comfort issue. Fit is a top priority. ms bullshark uses ForceFins...don't believe everything you read. She started using them some 900 dives ago and has yet to fade under any conditions. safe diving, bullshark |

| Wifey and I go back to Curacao next month and we're thinking about some new fins. We expect only light currents and are mostly concerned with comfort and fit. We used the Tusa Imprex last year which were so-so. We also had the Imprex booties. By the 6th day our toes were blistered and bleeding on the top. We don't want to repeat that experience! The diveshop there recommends the Mares Avanti Power Quattro fullfoot fins. They said their whole staff uses them. We tried them last year at the resort and we agreed they were a great fin. The downside is local diveshops don't carry them, and online they are pricey - in the $100 + range. Another local diveshop was pushing the Atomic Split fins, which were REALLY PRICEY like $170. Still another recommended the Scubapro Twin Jet split fins- also in the near-$200 range. They said they would be the LAST fins we ever needed as they have as lifetime warranty. The Tusa Imprex were our fist fin since using the infamous jetfins for 20 years. And we're really weren't impressed, particularly having invested like $200 in the fins and booties. This time we hope to make a better decision. Your opinions of the Mares vs Atomic vs Scubapro's would be appreciated. Or alternatives to look at would be apprecaited too.
