It is against the policy of this ng, and generally it's members, that spam of this nature is not acceptable here. If you wish to get emails from Brad, why not ask him to send you regular flyers, via your email? Do you wish to open the floodgates? Have all manner of advertisements here? |

| Hello chilly, My apologies, however I reviewed usenet's website and was unable to locate the rules or "policies" regarding the promotions of various specials on a newsgroup dedicated for the sport in which the equipment is used for. Now certainly I can see that my post has generated a certain degree of dis-taste from various parties, however, as other individual's (including what appears to be board "regulars") have posted non-scuba relevant posts, it was my understanding that posts of a scuba nature would be acceptable. Regardless, my apologies if you found offence to my earlier posts, I was just curious as to how your group "sets the bar" for what is considered "acceptable" posting considering no rules or such are posted by usenet.. Watch the group for a while and see what they like/don't like. Some people recommend "lurking" for a month, other say two, still others don't think anyone except the regulars should ever say anything. Personally, I just give it long enough to tell who the major players are and what the major "rules" are. 2.) Some groups allow spam. Some don't. It's not a Usenet policy to condemn or condone such activities. It's generally taken care of in the NG itself. 3.) Rec.scuba (RS) is oftentimes full of stuff that has little if anything to do with scuba. Some people complain about it, some people like it. The other RS NGs (Rec.scuba.locations and Rec.Scuba.Equipment) tend to stay pretty well on topic. Out of the 3, the only one that *might* have accepted the spam is RSE, but even that is dubious at best. 4.) If you dive, pull up a chair, grab a cold beverage, and watch what happens. If you don't, what are you doing trying to sell diving gear anyway? Chris |

| Hi Chris, I do dive, rather extensively at that. Have a handful of certs, and I like to think I'm well rounded in each of them. I've given up logging each one to be honest. Log books get expensive over time. Thanks for the tips, try and keep things a little more on the "low down" in the future... but the boss says what he says. Thanks though nonetheless, Brad The Deep End www.deependscuba.com "Chris Guynn" <chris.guynn@sbcglobal.N.O.S.P.A.M.net> wrote in message news:jt40d.18300$Xe7.7790@newssvr22.news.prodigy.c om... > > "brad@The Deep End" <REMOVEwebmaster@deepend.on.ca> wrote in message > news:EY30d.40529$Nd6.1062021@news20.bellglobal.com ... > > Hello chilly, > > > > My apologies, however I reviewed usenet's website and was unable to locate > > the rules or "policies" regarding the promotions of various specials on a > > newsgroup dedicated for the sport in which the equipment is used for. > > > > Now certainly I can see that my post has generated a certain degree of > > dis-taste from various parties, however, as other individual's (including > > what appears to be board "regulars") have posted non-scuba relevant posts, > > it was my understanding that posts of a scuba nature would be acceptable. > > > > Regardless, my apologies if you found offence to my earlier posts, I was > > just curious as to how your group "sets the bar" for what is considered > > "acceptable" posting considering no rules or such are posted by usenet.. > > > > Brad > > A few hints for future reference: > > 1.) | "brad@The Deep End" <REMOVEwebmaster@deepend.on.ca> pounded away at his keyboard resulting in: :My apologies, however I reviewed usenet's website and was unable to locate :the rules or "policies" regarding the promotions of various specials on a :newsgroup dedicated for the sport in which the equipment is used for.
