Looking for opinions on the dacor rig pro back inflate

If I was buying my first BCD, I would first go here
http://www.oxycheq.com/main.html then to
http://www.oxycheq.com/Bouyancy.html where I would select a wing like the
http://www.oxycheq.com/Wings-Single.html possibly a #30 and then I would go
to http://www.oxycheq.com/backplates.html where I would select one of the
plates and a single tank adapter.

You would then have a BCD without pockets and gadgets, something that will
adapt to any kind of diving, something that has little drag in the water.

For weight, I would get the Weight & Trim 2 from here.

wow.. what a nice way for someone, who I am assuming is a diver, to welcome
someone to the sport/hobby. Excuse me for my ignorance, but that doesn't
lessen the fact that you are arrogant ass and if that is the kind of people
that I am going to meet while I am diving , then I rather stay home and
watch TV and speak to morons ( like you) on the internet.
The dacor line of BCD has several "rigs" in the name of the units. I am new
to the hobby and surely wouldn't expect you to be well versed in what I do
for a living or as hobbies.

Any shop monkey that recommends the rig doesn't have a clue.

Skip the Zeagle Ranger, get the BP/Wing setup instead. I have already posted
the details of how to assemble one in a previous posting, or you can buy one
at an inflated price from Halcyon, or DiveRite or OMS.
Or you can buy my well used Ranger, sized for a big fellow. Make me an offer
in Kanukistan Dollars.

Well, I noticed you stopped top posting, so maybe some of that
experience is coming back.

But no, I'm definately not a troll. My first response to you was
brutally honest and the second was insulting (but somewhat clever and
with some good advice thrown in). Flame bait, perhaps, but since the
newbie had already identified himself, there was nothing to troll for
.

As for diving -

A. Welcome to the sport. Keep at it and you'll have a blast

B. Welcome to rec.scuba. Stick around and you'll be a jaded bastard in
no time (slightly longer if you just stick to r.s.e & r.s.l).

C. Listen to Brian. He's forgotten more about recreational and
technical diving than 99% of the shop monkeys you're likely to meet,
especially at first.

I bought a SeaQuest Infinity BCD when I first started diving here in the
NY/LI/NJ area. I dove with that BCD for 5 years. It served me well as a
single tank w/pony attached. But, even with a steel 120 attached, I
wanted more bottom time. Went to backplate and wings and doubles. I can
configure it for any type of diving (including single tank). The cost
was slightly more than the Infinity BCD. But, I enjoyed diving with the
BCD. I still have it and take it to those warm water places that dive
single 80's. It works great. If I were doing it over again, I would have
spent the few extra dollars and gone backplate and wings. But then, I
didn't know any better, and the dive shop has to sell you something. The
shop also doesn't know if you are ever going to stick with diving. I did.

Never dove the ranger. There are those that love it, those that hate it.
If you are ever thinking of diving doubles and slings in the future, get
a backplate and wings. Scott Koplin can hook you right up with quality
equipment that will last you the rest of your diving career.

Good for you. And diving in the environment where you live, I am sure
that doubles are almost a way of life. The mass merchandise BCDs (even
the techie looking ones) won't fit the bill, no matter how much the
store tries to sell you on them.
Backplate and wings. You won't go wrong.
