Although I'm sure there are some fools clever enough to use them
incorrectly. For those divers, there's this:

http://www.mares.com/product.asp?cat=8&prod=89&menu=2

Which not only eliminates the problem not being able to tighten a tank
band, but also warns other divers that the owner is an extremely
talented fool.

No offense intended, but I'd recommend improoving your tank clamping
technique. Pull the straps TIGHT before you work the cam to clamp
the tank. Wet the band first, if that help you -- I do't find that
I need to do so; my cam bands work just fine.

On the other hand -- my wife bought a set of SCUBAPRO (I think) bands
with metal buckles. She loves them; I think they are over-engineered
and over-priced -- but they do work.

Never come loose?---You have to use a large jubilee clip (preferably two)
Or there again try some of the small truck straps from you local auto store.
Seriously tho--"Charlie Hammond" made a valid point re wetting the
straps----The only time i have had this trouble is if i have not used the bc
in a while and hooked the tank up with dry straps.
You could always soak the bc(or straps if removable on your kit) in the bath
the day,or even an hour ,before you dive.
Hmmm--Thought--remember that all tanks ,even the same "size" are not the
same circumference--could this explain your troubles?

Are you sure the buckle is properly threaded?

Then you have a low standard tank retention system. I use scubapro
bands and clamps and they work just great. No need to wet them at
all.

The Scuba Pro Super-Cinch is without doubt, the best in class, but
alas, it is not very good on soft packs that need two straps. On
hard packs that bind the tank to a plate (plastic or otherwise)
with one strap they are the best thing going.

I especially like it when changing tanks in rough weather because
of the fact that you can take it off the tank without lifting the
BC over the tank.

safe diving,

Dan
I use the same --however should i not use a strap for a while it can and
does slacken once wet.
One thing to remember is that all tanks are not of the same dimensions even
tho they are the same capacity.
Not going to argue the point--just relaying my experiences

regards etc

Look for "Mares Airlock" Around $100 but worth it!

Right. Then everybody will be able to tell what a newbie you are from a
distance. Around $100 and a complete waste of money, but it's your money.

I've had very good luck with the two strap setup on my Halcyon. I've found
two straps inherently more stable than one and the halcyon straps with their
rubber grip sections, to be better yet. I'm sure they're not the only ones
producing a setup like this.
