I have used it on land with the housing on to protect to camera from rain and mist (Niagara Falls) The camera itself i love, i bougth it mainly for diving as i can take movies for up to an hour with a 2 gig card , ( about 2 hundred bucks) The housing fits well to the camera but i would not recommend this housing if you have to wear gloves of any thickness, the buttons to operate the camera are pretty small and very close together, very awkward i would think. The veiw finder has a little attachment to help keep out sun glare, may help may hinder, on land i keep it off. Secondly i find it hard to see the mode dial due to the shape of the mold itself, you really need to know your camera well and where all the specific control buttons are because once the housing is on it is hard to see which is which. Im not trying to be negative , i do like it, here in Canada the housing can be found for abour 250.00$ alot cheaper then going Ikelite for a grand, you get what you pay for The housing is rated for 40 meters, 140 ft, if you plan to dive deeper, look for another maker of housing ( ikelite is for 200 ft) The best thing i could suggest to you is to go to a camera/ dive shop that has ahousing you can put your camera in and check out what you think of all the buttons and controls Even with the few things i don't like about the housing, i am looking forward to getting out and trying it out, planning a trip to Cozumel in August, maybe earlier Richard ps this camera will except the DS-50 strobe from Ikelite if you choose to go that route ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

| Canon has a 2-page ad for this camera in the September edition of Scuba Diving magazine. Has anyone used this with the option underwater housing (and without it, on land, of course)? I like the 10x optical zoom and the availablity of the housing, I just have no way of testing it underwater without buying it. Thanks. |
