If it's that old then it's likely that the cells won't hold a good charge
anymore. You may also need a new battery pack.

Re-chargeable cells all have a limited life (irrelevant of chemical
composition).

Lead Acid can form sulphate on the plates and both NiCd and NiMh (which it
won't be as these have not been commercially available for 20 years) have a
limited number of charge / discharge cycles. Older generation cells also
have much less energy density (Ah or mAh) compared to cells developed in
the last few years.

Why not simply invest in a good replacement unit. I hear good things about
the UK Light Canon 100 in both rechargeable and non rechargeable versions as
it's about the least expensive HID unit available.

If money is not an issue then get a 18 or 21w HID umbilical, which will give
several hours of burn time.

looking for a charger for the battery. If anyone has a source please
