| The VR2 and VR3 are made by Delta P Technology in Poole, Dorset (south coast of England). They are the favourite computer for UK technical divers, especially the VR3 as it can be programmed for up to ten gas mixes, re-programmed whilst underwater, and can be configured for use with, Air, Nitrox, TriMix and HeliOx, and configured for open-circuit, semi and fully closed re-breathers. It can also be directly connected to some models of rebreather by an optional cable connection to an extra O2 cell, many AP Inspiration divers have their VR3 connected directly. Delta P say that the VR3 is the last dive computer you will ever need, as it can be bought at a reasonable price with programming as a Nitrox unit and then can be software upgraded to Tri-Mix and CCR at a later date. They have also just release their colour screen model, AFAIK this is the worlds first dive computer with a colour screen! Lastly, because they expect divers who use this unit to be undertaking long deco stops, it also has a few games on the unit to allay against boredom! Looks like the main differences between the VR2 and VR3 are that the VR3 has TriMix & HeliOx capability, the colour screen and the solid Aluminium body. Have a look at www.vr3.co.uk BTW, I have not got one of these but many of my fellow UK divers have. Maybe next year, up until then I'm quite happy with my Suunto Vytec. |
