Definately wetsuit- it even works for me in the North Sea up here in
Shetland- my friend lends me hers and its very warm- I'm usually driven
out of the sea by hunger not the cold!

I'd say wetsuit every time! I use one in the North Sea up here in
Shetland and it works every time- I'm usually driven out by hunger
rather than the cold! :)

Drysuit. If you like a feel of a wetsuit, a neoprene drysuit is not
far off.

When water is 1C, there is little left to prove

Dear Adam,

can you contact me directly for the drysuit? My length is 1.60 meters,
don't know what size that is in the US, but love to see a pic and to know
your asking price.

my email is nickytaniwha at yahoo.com

Hope to hear from you soon.

I dove a wetsuit here in NY for 6 years before going dry. I certainly
won't go back to a wetsuit (unless my drysuit floods). A wetsuit was
fine during the summer and late fall, but early spring and early winter
where the water temp is a balmy 42 degrees.. well, not quite for me.
Especially having to put it back on for a second dive....

Default Drysuit or Wetsuit

Hi Guys,

Couldn't find my question answered with searching this forum, so I do hope
you forgive me if I stir up a very old discussion!

Although I'm still a newbie in diving, I enjoy it very much. I have almost
all my equipment, but still have troubles deciding if I should have a
drysuit, or go for the wetsuit and only after more experience go for the
drysuit. Most of my dives done are here in South Africa, ahem, Cape Town.
So the water is really cold (8 degrees or less), unless you dive in False
Bay, then the temperature is approx. 18 degrees Celsius, but if you come
deeper, it gets cold as well.
I'm still renting a wetsuit from a dive school, but haven't found a place
to rent a drysuit.

Help me out. What are the yes and no's for both types of equipment?

It shouldn't be a difficult question - drysuit!

I dive in the scandinavian waters, and use a drysuit all year. The water
temp. ranges from 1 - 20 degrees celsius. During summertime I simply don't
use the undersuit, but a t-shirt instead.

I use a wetsuit when I'm abroad to the Red Sea, Philipines or
Hawaii..........

The worst thing by being cold is actually..............being cold

Safe diving,

Henrik

P.s. I know it wasn't pro's and con's - but I don't believe there is an
alternative for you!

Drysuit. Get someone to show you how, or take the course.
