I dive with contacts and bring spares. The advantage of contacts over prescription lenses is that you can still see when you don't have your mask on. The risk is that you lose a contact. (which I have done) Dan Bracuk If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

For contact wearers a mask with a purge valve is something to consider. |

I done that once or twice, not with a purge but by not having to clear my mask I always seem to lose them when I back rolled into the water - form blinking to hard - squeezed them right out of my eye. glad they were the disposable and no the old $100 a contact lens (many years ago)! |

If you crack a seal (or even if you don't ) there is a fair chance the lens will leave with the water and they are hard to find even in a swimming pool, with a purge they stay in the mask. (I only say hard to find in a pool because I had somebody actually find one once.) |

I wore the weekly disposable type. I've got the same story as Andy. I'll add this though. On occasion, coming out of the water and having removed my mask, I'd think I'd lost a lens. However, it had only moved up on my eyeball due to water in the eye. Gently massaging my eyelid moved it back into place. I never actually lost one. |
