It depends on which orifice the snorkel is attached to.

Yes, but the clorine can damage them over time. Rinse them when done.

A mask is a mask. Back before masks were made from silicon, some people
advised against using them in chlorinated pools. Personally, I didn't have
a lot of problem using them in pools as long as I rinsed them thoroughly
when I was done. I'm not sure there's a similar problem with modern masks.

Snorkels are for snorkeling. While some people, perhaps most people, still
carry a snorkel while diving, it's for snorkeling to and from a dive site,
back the boat, etc. I know of no reason why you should not use a snorkel in
a pool, or why you would want to.

Assuming you don't live under a rock, any department store sells
these types of things in the summer months. Does WALMART sound familiar?

Now you must be careful because swimming pool water is actually H5O,
and so dense that at only 2 feet of depth your mask will crush onto
your face like a german shepard on a poodle, and your snorkel will most
likely get caught in something called the 'Filter Vortex' found near the
bottom intake of your pool. It will swirl you round and round like a
floater in the average pay toilet, and finally as the filter suction
controller tries to compensate it will send you flying onto your roof,
or that of a neighbor, where you may be held liable for damage.

Best bet, take the PADI Advanced Open Pool Course which I teach at a
cost of 3 million dollars per session, 1 session per week, and then 2
days in your bathtub using real running water for the certification
portion. Or, just leave the TROLLS to the pros.

Play nice!

And please avoid bottom-posting. Some people get newsgroups in digest form,
and don't need to read the same messages re-quoted a hundred times for each
snide one-liner comment. The rest of us read posts in threaded groups and we
don't need replies requoted.

Oh, and the answer is yes, you can use a snorkel in a swimming pool, but
only if you stuff it full of plasticine and rub your mask with juice of
spanish onion.
