| Call Dive Rite... http://www.diverite.com/content.cfm?content=contact It's a small outfit and very helpful, you'll likely be put through to the guy who did the specs for the software. WHAT IS GOING ON? Check to be sure another program is not using the com port. A variety of other programs use the com port. I have a presentation program and a keypad that both use the com port and cause problems. Just close the program using the port and it will be freed up. If it isn't that, I don't know the answer. |

It turned out to be my Palm Hot Sync software that created the conflict. Turning the Palm software off while I did my downloads solved my problem. Perhaps your problem is as simple. Lee |

Sometimes the connectors have a coating on the pins or on the contact portion of the female end that prevents making good contact. A rubber eraser will work on exposed areas to clean the surface. Just rub gently with the eraser and clean the dust up. If you can't get at the contact points, try to plug in and out sufficient times that any film would be removed. Try to hit every contact point. |

The Nitek downloader is powered by the signal lines on the serial port of the computer. These days not all serial ports are compatible with that method. It violates the serial port standard anyway, but sometimes works. I have found that many newer computers, especially laptops, will work better with the USB-to-Serial adapter. That's what I use these days and it works much better. Good luck. |
