You could perhaps refer the GUE website:

http://www.gue.com/equipment/equip-anatomy.shtml

The focus is a bit different, but it may be a start. Alternatively,
pick up a PADI OWD manual on ebay.

Sounds like the perfect book for what you want is "Diving Science" by
Strauss & Aksenov - ISBN 0-7360-4830-8

Head over to your local library. You should be able to find a number of
books on diving, equipment, etc. That way you don't have to buy anything
and will likely even be able to make your notes right there.

Default Scuba Equipment books

Does anyone know any good books available for descriptions, purposes and
usage of dive equipment? I'm certified, but I don't have the books I used
for my classes anymore. I'm writing a speech for a speech class and need
documentation and references for the information I will be using. It's just
a 7 minute speech that I'm going to educate the class on what equipment is
used to overcome our physical limitations underwater. Any ideas would be
greatly appreciated.
