Check with one of the shops that claims they service them along with your
other equipment. I imagine you could use whatever you'd use for the
outside, but it wouldn't hurt to check to ensure you don't damage whatever
material is on the inside.

My best guess, Simple Green.

Mild soap and clean water.

Never underestimate the effectiveness of a simple detergent (dish soap)
in water. Rinse very well.

Thanks to all. I'm assuming that use of an antibacterial soap is not the
way to go as it might degrade any glueing?

I used to clean my booties with an antibacterial soap but was advised that
it could eat the glue.

If it did, then there would never be any bugs in any ocean divers BC's. ;^)

OK. :^)

I would say that is generally true. But if you rinse out the salt and
leave the goop, then stuff might grow.

People eat pork that is solely cured with salt. Hard for a bacterium to
live when it gets all the water sucked out of it by osmosis. I wouldn't
breathe the bacterial soap, myself.

I thought bacterial infection had been ruled out?

In any case, the antibacterial soap probably isn't very strong. I'm
sure the docs would salt your lungs except for the unfortunate
side-effect of it killing you.

If you really want to be sure that it's as clean as can be, then just
find one of the many products for cleaning out rebreather counterlungs
(eg. Trigene).

They won't harm the materials in your BC and they will effectively
sterilise it.

Dan.
