| Whistler <whiNstOler@sSan.rPr.cAomM> pounded away at his keyboard resulting in: :Doesn't need to be a dive watch, per se. Casio G-Shock, Timex Ironman, :Freestyle all show up as possibilities. Anyone have other options and :opinions about price, functionality and style? I would go with an analog, rather than digital display. I've never tried to use any of the buttons underwater, but it doesn't look like it would be easy to do while wearing gloves. You're not trying to time stops to the second, are you? |

Even simple arm movements can increase the pressure on a watch so just because you follow the rules and dive to 133 feet doesn't mean that you shouldn't look for a watch rated to 200 or even 300 feet. I have a Timex Ironman, but I don't trust the rubber around the buttons any more. I bought a Nike with really big numbers. I'm not sure if it is sold anymore. I've got a dive computer, but having a backup timer/watch is always a good idea. Both work fine as an alarm. |

Not looking to use it for diving per se, just for getting places on time. And I'm not doing any dives requiring stops of any kind, really. I just don't want a fragile watch and I'm considering spending a little more for something stylish. The G-shocks are kind of bulky. I'm glad to know that they hold up, though. |

Big, heavy, you can use it as a hammer ! Tested at 45m ( 150 feet), no problem. My son uses my previous 10 years old Casio ( not a G-Shock, water-resist 20 bars), without problems Recommended Have a good diving -- * enlevez '.don't.spam' et '.invalid' de mon adresse eMail si vous voulez m'écrire * * Donne un poisson à un homme, il aura à manger pour un jour * Apprends-lui à pêcher, il aura à manger pour tous les jours de sa vie * |

I live the in Caribbean 6+ months out out of the year and found that the displays on the Casio and Freestyle turned black when they were in the sun making it hard/impossible to read the display. When the watches cooled down you could read them again. The Timex Ironman doesn't have that problem and it's amazingly easy to change the settings on. I hate watches where you almost have to get a manual out to change the time, etc... -- Geoff |

I've not had a problem with viewing it in sunlight. At night, it's backlight is better than any other watch I own. Mine's black rubber and not much to look at, but Casio offers similar watches in stainless with gold trim. Lee |

I have one I bought at Target for $40 and have taken it diving and on all my travels and the thing works great. I have the old fashioned one with plain digits. Adam |
