Tried that... they seem to be a soft metal, that keeps collapsing (the
contacts are like tubes into which the Suunto 'studs' fit. The connector
seems to be some proprietary type (probably explains the price of the
genuine Suunto cable)

I will check out LeisurePro, but the best I've found locally was CDN 200.00
for the cable alone.

Thanks for the info.

They are not the same!!!!!

The $100.00 one is a USB cable interface with the new software version "SDM
2.*.*, the $80.00 cable is a serial cable which works with the older version
"SDM 1.6. The serial cable may work with the newer version software but I
have been unable to get the USB cable to work with the older version. Some
newer computers don't have a serial port which means you would need to buy
an adapter to get the serial port cable to work on one of these computers. I
have an extensive dive log in the old version which imports to the newer
version, "almost everything", all of the info I have on dive sites and
equipment is lost in the transfer. If starting new I would use the new
version and USB because Suunto will keep this version updated and it has
some new features in it like adding photos to your dive log. If you have
been using the old version and want to stay with it I don't "think" you will
get the USB cable to work with it (I would love to know if anyone does.). If
you use the new version be sure to check the Suunto.com web site often. The
software is updated often with new features and bug fixes.
