Tubing or some type of bungie cord is used to position the reg under
the chin.

http://www.gue.com is the place to start.

Shorter hose does go over the right shoulder.

The necklace concept started long before anybody thought of DIR. My first
single hose regulator ( I learned on a double hose one) had a snap on
necklace. Back then, pretty much all single hose regulators came with them.
DIR resurected the concept, this time for the alternate.

Check out the WKPP cite. They developed and used to strongly promote the
DIR system.

My 6 footer was wrapped the same way as the 7 footer you've seen pictured.
It just didn't hook under anything on my right side. I've never used a 5
foot hose, but if I did, it would go under my right arm and straight up to
my mouth.

Oops, should of read that one a bit more carefully. That would be a
bit entertaining.
