Hi Steve,

when the mask is new, there is a sort of protective wax layer over the inside
lens. The best way to remove this, is gently with your finger and some
toothpaste with water water, clean it. It doesn't need hard scrubbing,
otherwise you might make scratches on your glas!

Ciao, Nicky

This is all very true for masks that are made with tempered glass
lenses. However, some masks (ie, Sea Vision) use a composite material
and tooth past is not to be used to clean the lenses. Some less
expensive snorkeling sets also do not use tempered glass and tooth paste
would actaully scratch the lens. So, you must know what material was
used to make the lens before using TP.

Agreed, B careful with toothpaste, especially the whitening stuff which has
more abrasives in it. Ordinary shampoo works pretty good. I know guys who
use toothpaste religiously as an anti-fog also... just gotta make sure you
get it all off, or you'll have that fresh minty burning sensation in your
eyes...

Default New Mask

Just got a new snorkel set. I've heard of using toothpaste (the paste kind
not gel) to clean the whole thing but am not sure if I should do that. Any
experienced advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
