Been using Typhoon for years, but whatever you get consider having "ring
seals" added, it's well worth the money if you damage a seal.

I used a Nexus during my AOW. It was one of their stock sizes and the neck
and wrist seals were all sized for some 300 lb fat guy so they leaked like
crazy.

I bought a custom Whites AquaPro suit with quadflex material and love it.

One other thing I didn't like on the Nexus was the dump valve position. With
the rear entry, it was situated facing forward almost in the armpit area and
a bitch to dump air out of. Other than those things, the suit seemed
alright.

Hi Nicky

The SA agents for DUI are Don & Andre Shirley from
www.technicaldivingafrica.com

In Cape Town John Mountain's crowd from Divemasters/Atomic/Halcyon used
to do DUI, too.

I *think* that there is a Polar Bears dealer in SA, it's probably best
to email them and ask if/who their agents in SA are.

Your alternatives are Scubapro or Stingray (www.stingraymarine.co.za)
by Mike Bradley which is the only trilam suits made in South Africa so
he can make you a custom suit and will probably do the repairs
regardless of what you buy anyway...

Thanks Monty,

you're a star! this is one of the final things to buy before I have my
equipment, then I definitely will join you guys for a club dive.

You don't know of any second hand one offered, do you?

Cheers, Nicky

Default tri-laminate drysuit from Whites

I'm intending to buy myself, finally, a nice tri-lam drysuit. Somebody
pointed me towards the Nexus from Whites. This is a bi-laminate suit, but
available on the South African market and comes complete with the
undergarments.

Does anybody have experience with this suit, pros and cons? Are there good
alternatives? I looked as well at the suits from Diving concepts, Typhoon,
Polar Bear, UISA and Dui but the last three don't seem to have a dealer in
South Africa. Is it worth asking friends from the UK to bring me a suit down
when they come back?

Thanks, Nicky
