Default question about brand names

hey! i am new to this scuba diving thing and I am working on getting my certification. I have been looking around at new equipment at some of the local stores as well as some used equipment on craigslist and ebay. I came across this set on ebay and it looks nice from the photos but I don't know anything about brand names or quality.... is this a good set and if so what do you think it is worth? thanks so much in advance, i am sure everyone understands what is like to be a newbie!

Hi,

I love to buy stuff on eBay and Craigslist. However I am not sure if I would bid on this regulator, especially if I were new to diving.

The reg is about 8 years old, so at least you will have to do a service at a local diveshop (which will cost you $60-$80, more if something is wrong).

There are a lot of NEW regulator sets on eBay and if you look around you should be able to find something nice for $150-$200.

Depending on where you plan to dive, you might have to spend more to get an cold water regulator. If you just want to dive on your vacation, any regulator should be fine.

Hey

As long as you stick to good brands and products which are not older than 5 years, you should be good!
