Maybe you can set it up as a tow behind

I called the distributer and they said no.

SeaDoo makes one but I think I'll try and make one using a rope with a knot
through a board with a whole in the middle

Sorry to say, your distributor had no idea what they were talking
about I've been using the SeaDoo Explorer for over a year as a
tow-behind, and it works. I am well capable of driving it with one hand.

There are two small holes at the bottom of the handlebars, where you
loop the rope through. You make it long enough so that the v-shape it
creates ends anywhere between 5 and 15cm behind the propeller shroud
(depending on how tall you are). Then you loop a boltsnap onto the
laynard, and that's it. While driving, you need to press the scooter a
bit down so that the water is jetted out below you and not into you.

I have seen some people drive a torpedo. It looks quite nice too.
We were only unsure about the separate magnet as switch in club use
(easy to misplace).

Is that because you want to look forward rather than down?

What I picture is to drag behind the thing (running parallel to duh Earth)
looking down to the bottom.

There will be a lot of 'pulling up' in order to (watch out where the Hell
I'm going) look in front of the unit. That's where a tow behind 'sulky'
would be handy. Instead of 'muscling up' to look ahead, all one would have
to do it press down on the hand grips momentarily and look up.

That's some kind of security measure?
