If you have ever had problems getting your student's attention, try
the Mini Hammerhead signal device.
I found this works much better than the fist-to-hand clap, not to
mention a million times easier.
The device also works as an emergency signal device on or below the
surface.

Great piece of equipment I have integrated into my system, but PLEASE
if you buy one USE SPARINGLY.


Cheap substitutes:

PVC pipe with two end caps and a heavy piece of metal inside (shake
for noise)

Tank thumper (rubber band with a plastic ball placed around your tank,
draw it back and let it go for noise)

yell (you can make enough noise to get someone's attention usually)

fist-to-hand clap motion (smack the top of your fist with your open
palm HARD, makes a clapping noise)

knife on tank (bang tank with the back of your knife)

big gaudy ring on tank (wear a huge ring and use it to knock on your
tank)
