| Okay, I haven't had much time to find my OW book to answer the shivering in cold water issue. But, I'll look a little harder tomorrow. Anyhoo, anyone ever dive off the coast of Bremen, Germany? If so, is it worth the trip? What's the vis like and the water temps? |

Bremen is some miles upstream the Weser river, which feeds into the North Sea. These waters are submitted to tidal influence, and due to shallow sandy/muddy bottom structure there is mostly no vis. Best diving is at the Isle of Helgoland( Kelp,Wrecks, lobsters, dog sharks) but it is restricted only for the divers of the biological research station and the Institute fuer Polar Ecology. However there are two near spots. One is the "Banter See", near Wilhemshaven. http://www.uwc-manta.de/tauchrevier.htm The other is the infamous "death lake" Kreidesee Hemmoor. 'Twas a former chalk quarry with adjacant cement factory. Now a diving site with about 300 visitors on some weekends. max 60m, salmon hatchery, small houses with Sauna, excellent facilities, warm showers, nursing area, washing machines, catering, safety equipment. http://www.kreideseetaucher.de/ http://www.dive-station-hemmoor.de/index.php?id=3 Otherwise, it's 3 hours from Bremen to the Baltic Sea. Viz in Hemmoor may be up 30m, in the Baltic now about 4-8m, depending on wind, rainfall. Temps in Hemmoor 6-4 °C, 6-7 in the Baltic. It is quite warm because of the mild winter. Will be a jellyfish summer. When will you be there? Matthias |

Thank you very much for the info. Is there very much good diving in the Baltic? If there is, it might be worth my while to take a trip for a day or two there...if I even go. |

Give me a month's minimum headroom, and drop a note. Matthias |
