| I've just done my Open Water in Malta and already planning my next diving trip! I've been thinking of doing my Advanced Open Water in Crete, probably Agios Nikolaos or Elounda. I'd be most grateful for any info / recommendations that anyone can provide regarding these locations and underwater scenery 'cause I was thinking to do the Digital Underwater Photographer Course. Many thanks in advance. |

Stefanos will see you are ok. Based at Minos Beach Hotel Underwater centre is closer to the town. Diver1 |

I went to Agios Nikolaos in April. I usually dive on the south coast of the UK and this was my first time in the Med. The diving was OK but there was little to get excited about. We didn't see any large fish and not even large numbers of small ones. The highlight was probably getting up close to a small octopus in about 8-9m on the first day. Doing a photography course should slow things down to give you a chance to see whatever *is* there. I was certainly comfortable in a 5mm semi-dry, but whatever you wore in Malta should be fine. See http://harrowsubaqua.org.uk/photos/20060411Crete for photos of the trip. -- Joe http://joe.hotchkiss.com http://harrowsubaqua.org.uk |

The only diving I have done there was at the Coral Diving center Annissaras. Not like Caribbean or Maldives, but quite good diving, and also founf out that divers are not aware of earthquakes ... found out when got to shore that there had been a 4.7 earthquake. If you like marine archeology, then Turkey is good, and almost unlimited finds, I dived from Side, just south of Antalya. Regards Regards Rob Vulcan Bomber (101 Squadron) |
