| I did the dives - coldest I have ever dived at 14 degrees .... never again in a wetsuit. I must have wheezed away 20-30 bar in first 2 minutes the shock was that bad, simply could not get my breath. To be honest the diving was not good ... sod all fish, just rocks anemones & star fish. managed to track down a couple of small octopus .... well I enjoyed the break, and gave the kit a check out prior to Sharm next month. | I am going to Athens on business at end of the month, and throught I would stay the weekend .. get in 2 days diving. The cost to me is then only the dive charges as I will alreday be in-country. Looked around the PADI web site and found the 5star IDC centre - Agean Dive Centre who can fit my dive times in no problem ... anybody dived around Athens (Glyfada), and anybody dived with Agean Dive Centre ? They advise the water temp is around 14-15 degree ... thus will be the coldest I have been, but they are confident that a 5mm wet suit & hood is more than enough. |

| 14-15 degrees? Definitely thick semidry. These temperatures are typical for Dublin summer diving where we're all in either 7mm semi's or 5mm shortie over 5mm longjohn with hood of course. I dived in Croatia where water temp was late teen early twenties, I was wearing 5mm with hood but even at this I was getting cold towards the end of the dive. 5mm in 14-15 degrees sounds like a short chilly dive. I depends what your tolerance to cold is etc but I'd agree with Matthias. | Rick, Be aware of flying-diving-flying. If you dive the whole weekend, you can't fly on sunday-night or monday morning!
