| G'day Tim, > For those interested I have posted my trip report for Madang in Papua New > Guinea, and Photos at my web site.... > Great time was had by all. > > scuba.tmckenzie.net Your report and photos bring back great memories - we were there in May. Jais Aben was a top place for us as my wife does not dive but loves snorkelling. The reef along the front of the resort and Pig (Tab) Island were her favourite sites. The dive operation was happy to drop her off there to snorkel anytime we were diving that area. While I was thee a research scientist was doing the regular fish counts around Tab Is. He asserted (with some authority given his credentials) that 20% of ALL fish species known in the world have been identified around that island. FWIW Magic Pass was my favourite site and the huge Titans guarding their nests just down from the Eel Gardens provided some of the more fraught moments. regards, John A |

I must admit that I loved Eel Gardens the most but that may be because of the leaf scorpion fish....We never got to magic pass because the tides weren't favourable.... I will certainly try to get back! Tim |

PNG and Solomon Islands are pretty much the epicenter of biodiversity in our oceans. Heading in any direction away from the area results in ever lowering dissimilarity and multeity of species. It truly is a wonderland. It's been a few years for me since having last visited, but I am anxious to return. The problem with PNG, as always, is what itinerary to take...there's just too much to see and dive in a two week period and that is all I usually get. |

| Very interesting site, Tack. Very nice shots. I dove at Kabaul, PNG, in April and found the most interesting and photo-worthy subjects to be the WWII wrecks, the crinoids and the clownfish.
