I was down there some years ago...a nice resort near Trivandrum before I
headed off to the Maldives.

No diving there, no reefs on the coast there. Your planned visit is a
terrible time to visit that area -- in the middle of the Southeast Monsoon
which will be raging during your visit. My visit was early March...birds
in the trees, clear skies...weather not yet too hot...one can stand neck
deep in water and see one's feet and count one's toes.

Default Diving in southern India?

I'll be in the far southern tip of India in late July and early August,
specifically near Kanyakumari and Trivandrum. Is there any good diving
around there? If so, can someone recommend a particular operation to
dive with? Thanks.

Maybe you can try checking the local dive spots. Some dive spots aren't very popular until now, but they can offer good service or good sceneries. Some doesn't have proper internet facility to promote their place so you better check things locally.

Hi,

I think people have lot of misconceptions here. Mandapam group of Island is near tuticorin, Vembar is Huge Marine Bio Reserve . Here you find numerous varieties of corals and reef fishes. Sea horses are common amoug the sea grass. There is a Dive centre run by a NGO at Vembar call People Action group. Welcome to Peoples Action For Development — padgom.org Mr. Rajendra Prasad is the person to contact.
You can definitely dive around August as Monsoon arrives late in that area. All the dive sites are shall and there is even a nearby shipreck on which you can dive.

My Dive centre is at Candolim, Goa Goa Aquatics - PADI Scuba Diving Resort in Goa India.
