Matthias

I worked in Southern India for several months in the early 90's I did not see
any diving in that area mainly due to the river delta, there were a group of
Islands just south of Cochin which looked more promising, they were owned by
the Hotel chain we used sorry I don't have the name. It was a beautiful part of
the world and well worth the effort of getting there perhaps not for the
diving. I have some collegues out there at the moment and will ask the
question.

Regards Richard

Those would be the Lackshadweeps. There is a PADI centre on one of
them.

Andaman Islands? I haven't heard of them, but from the looks of it, I think it's a nice place to be in. Anyway, what sort of marine life can we see in that part of India? Are there sharks or Whales or something? It would be fun to see those.

There are lots of place in India for Diving. In Southern India check out Lakshwadeep Islands. For a foreign traveller you need special permission.
There are dive centres in Bangaram, Kadmat and Kavaratti. Lakshwadeep diving is same a Maldives Diving. These atolls are very near to Maldives.

from as far as what i know of andaman islands.. i dont hink diving is allowed thre after the tsunami ... though there is the option for snorkelling. lakshadweep islands could cater all your needs if you are so particular about the south.. else you can head straight to goa... with its beaches an marine life.. im sure you ll enjoy .
