Diving in Iraq

Jed the Fish,

You wouldn't happen to drop in here to pull our collective legs, would
you? I know the undulating sands of the Iraqis desserts do look like
the sweels of the ocean, but frankly, it's not very scuba friendly.

You may find the Red Sea more to your liking.

I know someone who dived in the Gulf of Arabia -- it is a very shallow sea and
quite saline. The person used to work for Aramco and was a diver whom I ran into
on one of my many dive charters. He said that it took a lot of weights that one
had to don to be able to get "down" into the water of the Arabian Gulf.
Scientists say that the Arabian Gulf will eventually "disappear."

Our Israali friends and others who had dive the Gulf of Aqaba saod the
diving there stinks, apart from the political unrest. The Red Ses is
the
only place to go there.
