I know the undulating sands of the Iraqis desserts do look like the sweels of the ocean, but frankly, it's not very scuba friendly. You may find the Red Sea more to your liking. -- Bob da Feessh. |

| I know someone who dived in the Gulf of Arabia -- it is a very shallow sea and quite saline. The person used to work for Aramco and was a diver whom I ran into on one of my many dive charters. He said that it took a lot of weights that one had to don to be able to get "down" into the water of the Arabian Gulf. Scientists say that the Arabian Gulf will eventually "disappear." | I'll be taking a vacation in October and I was wondering who the best dive operators are? I have fond memories of the middle east when I was there during the first gulf war, and I must say I have never met *friendlier* native population. I have been told that the best reefs are a distance away, but what boats should I enquire into? Can you recommend anything with regard to the dive ops and how to keep on their good side and avoid any unpleasantries? Thank you. Jed the Fish |
